Living your Life of JOY

In addition to walking in love with God and having good relationships with people, living your life of JOY will also require Physical Work, Rest, Giving, and Praise.

Most of your Joy will come from the spiritual (praise, obedience, giving) and social (giving, relationships); but some of it is physical (physical work, rest).

If you don’t do physical work, then it may be a good idea to exercise or play a sport.

Is sports idolatry? No, sports is only idolatry if you mix it with alcoholism, lust, or covetousness (greed for money, gambling).

YAH doesn’t take pleasure in the legs of a man (Psalms 147:10), so we should not overemphasize the strength in sports.

However, Scripture does associate sports with joy (Psalms 19:5), and discipline (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).

So if you have problems with Joy, or Discipline… these are things you may be able to get help with through a sport.

After you put your body through your physical work, or your sport… then Rest, Give, and Praise the Most High! The sleep of a laboring man is sweet (Eccl. 5:12).

Physical Discipline, Success, and Joy

Athletes learn discipline by doing the fundamentals of their sport.

Seeing the growth and results of physical discipline makes it easier to understand the benefits of mental and spiritual disciplines.

This is why the Scriptures use athletes as a positive example of physical self-discipline for our spiritual calling.

1 Corinthians 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Keeping Your Body as Your Slave

The Greek word for “body” that Paul mentioned in the above Scripture is “soma” (Strong’s #G4983). “Soma” means slave.

The physical discipline of sports allows you to learn to subject your own body to the discipline of slavery.

Those that can master their own body, can go on to master anything.

Those that cannot master their own bodies, cannot master anything in life.

This is why Scripture uses sports as a positive example of discipline and self-mastery.

Fundamental Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Disciplines are important for us to learn in every area.

Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Discipline sets us up for a life of Joy.

De-emphasizing Strength and Beauty

De-emphasizing Strength and Beauty – Exalting Wisdom OVER Youthful Lusts – Overemphasizing the FEAR of YAH

MEN HAVE NATURAL STRENGTH

The strength of men is natural. It leads to protection, economic growth, and athleticism. These things are natural and not sinful. But when they are overemphasized, it leads to greed and violence and enmity.

Roman/Babylon culture overemphasizes youthful strength, competition, and sports.

In the Kingdom of God and Hebrew Heart culture of a called out Congregation, we must de-emphasize strength and overemphasize the Fear of the Lord.

We must learn to give verbal praise and take pleasure when our young men fear the Lord and keep His commandments more than in their strength and athleticism.

Psalm 147:10 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. 11 The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. [competition]

Mark 9:34 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.

35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

Doing this on purpose will help us be free from youthful lusts, the deceitfulness of sin and the corrupted world system.

WOMEN HAVE NATURAL BEAUTY

The beauty of women is natural. It leads to procreation, family growth, and fashion. These things are natural and not sinful. But when they are overemphasized, it leads to lust and violence and vanity.

Roman/Babylon culture overemphasizes youthful beauty, sexuality and fashion.

In the Kingdom of God/Hebrew Heart culture of the Called Out Ecclesia, we must de-emphasize beauty and overemphasize the fear of the Lord.

We must learn to give verbal praise and take pleasure when our young women fear the Lord and keep his commandments more than in their beauty and fashion.

Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

1 Peter 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Doing this on purpose will help us be free from youthful lusts, the deceitfulness of sin and the corrupted world system.

JOY Overpowers Distractions

When diversions become your MAIN FOCUS, you have to ask yourself:

What is being stolen from me right now?
What is being finessed out of my life?
Who is taking my heart away from me, and why?

A man who finds a treasure in a field is so overjoyed that he sells all his other stuff to buy that specific field.

Distracted people either just haven’t found the Kingdom yet, or they found it but couldn’t see it.

Matthew 13:44
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

Wisdom is more precious than Adam Silver and Donald Sterling. Lessons for the church from the NBA.

Even though I love basketball, I already boycotted attending live NBA games because of the cheerleaders and the music they played last time I went… If there’s no room for racist Donald Sterling in the NBA, then how come there’s so much room for lust, curses, adultery and iniquity in our souls? If Christians responded with as much passion for holiness as they do for homosexuality issues and race issues we’d have nothing to worry about. Don’t complain about something and support it at the same time! The world doesn’t have the authority, we do!

In other words: Businesses make decisions according to the moral code of their customers. Christians and Ministries make decisions according to the moral code of God. So if we are not making decisions according to God’s moral code, why are we complaining about a business making a decision based on their moral code? If we made our decisions right, they’d be making their decisions to please us!!!!

The Bible actually teaches that “there’s no room for fornicators in your church” yet we will turn a blind eye to all the iniquity and sin that fills the church while we get hype about Donald Sterling. The Bible teaches that Overseers should be the husbands of one wife and not covetous. Yet scandal after scandal and we continue to “stay submitted” to man rather than God.

We don’t get justice or holiness because we don’t value respect for God’s name like LeBron James values respect for black basketball players. We don’t cry out in prayer, or teach against sin so we don’t get swift justice and decisive action for holiness from God like NBA players received from Adam Silver.

When will the world change? When the church changes.

Let’s Worship a Sports Hero – LOL

This is how we look to God when we worship sports heroes…
HILARIOUS!

No wonder Psalms 2 says He sits in heaven and laughs.

This is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. If you like basketball, this is funny on so many different levels.

Compassion is the Heart of God

Compassion is the heart of God… so instead of worshipping the strong, let’s teach the strong to take care of the weak. This may bring a tear to your eyes…

The Nazarite Vow and Sports – Rejecting the World’s Wine

The Nazarite Vow and Sports – Rejecting the World’s Wine

disclaimer: I got this message several weeks ago before I was even thinking  about the Superbowl, so don’t necessarily take this as an attack on your Superbowl plans. But it just is what it is. If the shoe fits, take it off!

What is Sports?

Sports are Exercise, Fun, and Games of Physical Strength and Skill. They are harmless, right? Actually they are good for the human body. Bodily exercise profits little, but Godliness is eternal (1 Timothy 4). But we also have to glorify God in our body (1 Corinthians 6).

But, taken too far, what is Sports?

It’s a celebration of human strength. Taken too far, it’s the worship of the human body. Say you’re in a stadium, or a field, what are you watching? You’re watching a bunch of 20 somethings, men at the peak of their strength, playing a physical game of strength and speed and physical skill. Then you have the cheerleaders, dancing, being beautiful and feeding physical lust. Beauty is God given, when taken too far – it becomes lust and adultery.

What is harmless can become idol worship. So you are in a stadium, watching the strength of men and the beauty of women (even in the commercials). So, what is harmless has become the idol worship of the human body, worshipping the strength of men and lusting after the beauty of women – IF taken too far.

Who takes it too far?

Who sponsors most of the commercials and cashflow for these sports games? Alcohol companies. What’s the quickest way to take anything too far. What’s the quickest way to lower your inhibitions, lose control of your emotions, speak easier and give your soul out more? – Drinking Alcohol.

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Proverbs 20:1

Drinking alcohol, becoming inebriated, and being filled with wine or strong drink is the quickest way to go too far. Drinking is not a sin, but it is the quickest way to turn something harmless into sin and idol worship by taking it too far.

Be filled with God’s Wine by Singing

Ephesians 5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,

This is why the Nazarite vow involves not drinking wine. Not because wine is a sin, but because wine symbolizes worldly pleasures. Not only does wine symbolize worldly pleasures, but wine and strong drink lowers your inhibitions, and is the quickest way to turn something harmless like sports and beauty into the idol worship of the human bodyworshipping the strength of men and the lust of women.

When you decide to drink wine or strong drink, what is the next step? Where do you drink it, and for what purpose? At home to make you happy? At the bar? At the sports game? At the Club? What are you having pleasure in? What are you worshipping?

What is a Nazirite?

The Nazirite vow, literally – means not drinking wine, and letting your hair grow. (Numbers 6, Judges 13, Lamentations 4:7, Amos 2:7,11.) Rejecting the wine symbolizes shunning the world pleasure, letting your hair grow on your head symbolizes giving your strength and glory to God.

The holiness of the Nazarite is not just for ascetic reasons, or to be considered “holier than thou.” Nazarite Holiness leads to spiritual power that brings amazing results. Samson was a Nazarite, John the Baptist was a Nazarite, as was probably Elijah. All of the Nazarite men in the Bible did amazing feats of spiritual strength.

Funny (to me) Story: I was recording a verse to a song called “I’m a Nazirite” with my friend Kendra. I had my baby son and my 5 year old neice with me. So my niece was in the room while I was recording my verse, so I had her help with the chorus on the last hook.

So I was telling her what a Nazirite was. “A Nazarite means we don’t live for ourselves, we don’t live for the world, and we don’t live for the devil, we only live our lives for God.” My niece is saved and filled with HG and is very very intelligent – she actually gets things like this even at the age of 5.

She was excited about helping out with the song and couldn’t wait to get home and tell her aunt and her mom. When we were driving home, I asked her to tell me what a Nazarite was. “We don’t live for ourselves, we don’t live for the world, and we don’t live for the devil, we only live for God!”

Even though I’m used to her, I was surprised at how good her memory was. But then she continued. “You know what else Uncle?” “What Kyra?” I’m thinking I only told her 3 things, what else do she have to say. “We don’t live for JEZEBEL!” she said.

I laughed so hard. I hadn’t told her anything about Jezebel, but obviously she had heard me mention Jezebel in my verse, and she added that to the list of things that Nazirites don’t live for.

Nazarite Generation

There is a Nazarite Generation coming with the wisdom of my niece! They won’t live for themselves, they won’t live for the world’s pleasures, and they won’t live for the devil, OR Jezebel’s religious and physical idolatry and adultery! They will reject wine and strong drink – naturally and spiritually – and give all their strength and glory to GOD ALONE!

So can we play sports? Yes, if you do it for exercise and fun – not idol worship. And if you don’t drink the wine, put clothes on all the women (probably the men, too), and if you give God the glory like Tim Tebow:-)

I like basketball myself, I enjoy playing it and watching it. But I have to fast from it regularly so it never becomes idolatry. I call it the Fave Media Fast. Fasting from TV, websites, sports, video games, or any of your favorite media regulary. Fasting helps break addictions and idolatries, and prevents them too.

Quick Story about Tim Tebow – I heard on the radio that they mic’d his helmet during a game, and he was actually singing spiritual songs throughout the whole game. In the midst of all the pressure of the game – he’s filling himself with the Holy Ghost! Now that’s a Nazarite – drinking God’s wine at all times, rejecting the world’s wine, and glorifying God with all of his youthful strength.

Unfortunately Tim has recently been chased by Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, a Pornography convention, and by Jockey underwear to do a shirtless ad as a sex symbol for his female fans. He has to learn to stay away from the spirit of Jezebel, and stay consistent. Avoid the sex symbol ad money and the strange women. Jezebel is very tricky and seductive – naturally and spiritually. And the trickiest jezebel spirits usually comes after spiritual Kings, not spiritual slackers. I talk very much more in depth about Jezebel 1.0 and Jezebel 2.0 in our book Killing Idols For REVIVAL.

But there is a generation coming like Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; they will FAST in King’s Palace of Babylon, and they will refuse to dance to the party music of IDOLATRY, even when it’s played very loud. If you Read Daniel 1 and 2, you will see that they were all teenagers when they did this! This type of generation will have a spiritual power that we haven’t seen yet, and they will prepare the earth for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

BET’s The Game

Romans 1:28-32

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

I have only seen one full episode of The Game, but that was enough for me. I have since learned that a main theme and element of this show is to make God and the bible a joke and a mockery. In the episode that I saw, one of the football players pretended to be a born again Christian in order to impress a coach in the NFL. He went as far as hosting a bible study in his home, inviting the man he wanted to impress and actually reading from Psalms 119. It was all a big joke, he had no reverence for God or the bible, and he was only using it as a device to get what he wanted.

Recently I found out that three of the NFL characters on the show have nick named themselves the father, son and holy ghost. This is blasphemy, irreverence in word or deed toward God, and the name of God(http://www.studylight.org/dic/hbd/view.cgi?number=T971).

God takes blasphemy and using His name in vain very seriously

Taking God’s name in vain:

Exodus 20:7 (King James Version) 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Deuteronomy 5:11 (King James Version)11 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Blasphemy:

2 Timothy 3:1-5  (King James Version)

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

James 2:6-7 (King James Version)

6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? 7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

The Holiness and power of the name of God and Jesus Christ:

Luke 1:49-50 (King James Version) 49For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy (reserved from profane or common use) is his name. 50And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

Philippians 2:9-11 (King James Version)

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The world hates God. The systems and kingdoms of the world are set against God. And friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God (James 4:4). Since there were so many blasphemous references to God and the Holy Spirit throughout this show I decided to do some research. It seemed that this was very intentional and purposeful. What did I find from a simple internet search? The creator and producer of The Game is a devout Muslim (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mara_Brock_Akil).

Muslims do not believe that Jesus was the son of God, so they would have no problem disrespecting Jesus Christ the Holy Ghost or the God of Christians.

Entertainment as a Vaccine against True Faith (sospression)

When I saw a few minutes of “The Game” at a friends house… INSTANTLY the Holy Spirit showed me what it was doing. It was like a spiritual “vaccine.” A vaccine is a weakened version of something that is powerful and infectious. You get injected with a vaccine in order to strengthen your immune system against the real thing. Most entertainment in today’s time contains several “vaccines” against true Christianity. They mock Christians, display hypocrisy, and make everything related to God into a joke.

Just take an inventory in your mind of all the books you read in high school, the most popular tv shows, and movies. What percentage of them displays Christianity as all about hypocrisy, or just a silly joke? Satan does this with the intent of making the hearts of men immune to the true fire of God. This show, “The Game” is no different , but it’s really going overboard. However, God’s power is so great, that when His true fire comes, there is no stopping Him from capturing your soul, no matter how many vaccines you have taken by television, radio, movies, etc… In the same way, once your soul has been truly captured by God, you will have no tolerance for the blasphemies and disrespect of this world for God. It’s impossible to be a friend of the world and a friend of God at the same time. So examine yourselves, and see if you are really in the faith.

Turn the Tables?

How would muslims respond if allah and the quran were being mocked on television? How have we responded as Christians? God is being mocked and blasphemed on television and mainstream culture more and more. And it will get worse as the times we live in become increasingly evil and the hearts of men grow cold (Matt. 24:12). But we as Christians should not willingly participate or be entertained by it.

I officially call for a boycott of “The Game” and against BET. BET sends a double message, they have the BET gospel music awards, and a blasphemous show like “The Game”? They have Sunday morning Christian programming and air a show where a player is allowed to call himself the holy ghost? TURN OFF THE GAME, TURN OFF BET.

Don’t get me wrong, The Game is NOT the first television show to mock God. The Simpson’s continually mocked God, Conan O’Brian, South Park, the movie Friday, and Tyler Perry, yes I said it, Tyler Perry. These are only a few .

And for those reading who may watch The Game you may say, “That’s them, I only watch the show”, but God will not hold anyone guiltless who take pleasure in and are entertained by unrighteousness (Romans 1:32). Please understand, I myself have had to repent for being entertained by unrighteousness, I laughed at movies and television shows that negatively or jokingly referenced God, the bible or God’s people. Therefore we have to repent, and TURN AWAY from the sinful, blasphemous ways and entertainment of the world.

Do you realize that we are called to forsake ALL to follow Christ? If you are not ready to fight and die for the cause of Christ, you are not worthy of Him. If you are not willing to forsake family members for the cause of Christ you are not worthy of Him. If you are not willing to give all that you have to follow Him, you are not worthy of Him. If you are not willing to stop watching a television show that mocks Him, you are not worthy of Him (Matthew 10:36-38, 1 John 2:15-16).

IF YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN AND WATCH THE GAME, REPENT AND STOP

IF YOU KNOW A CHRISTIAN WHO WATCHES THE GAME, SEND THEM THIS ARTICLE AND ASK THEM TO STOP

Mail a letter to BET requesting that The Game be taken off the air, or that BET issue a formal letter of apology for the mocking themes and comments against God in The Game, and that it will no longer be allowed.
