BEGINNINGS MATTER: The Critical Importance of Biblically Deductive Thought Processes
The Fear of the Lord is the BEGINNING of Wisdom
This article might sound intellectual but it’s not. It’s really simple. As a matter of fact, it might make you annoyed with intellectuals that are really dumb, because they reject God. The FEAR of the Lord is the BEGINNING of Wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). If you are not scared of GOD, you haven’t even started with knowledge yet. Whatever area you are not scared of God’s judgments in, is the area where you are empty in knowledge, a fool. (Prov 1:7)
I talked with a woman that had read Killing Idols For REVIVAL; they were so excited that they bought 10 copies and were giving them out to friends. She said that one thing that she got from it was a deeper understanding of the Fear of The Lord, which she also happened to be studying when her and her husband read the book! We talked about how the fear of the Lord is not only just a “reverential awe” or respect, but an actual fear of His judgments which causes us to avoid evil. “Knowing the Terror” of the Lord, we persuade men (2 Corinthians 5:11).
Do we Know the TERROR of the Lord? Well maybe that’s why we have a hard time persuading men. BOOYAH!!! Stop the blog right here and recieve the offering. LoL just kidding.
How Did Charles Darwin singlehandedly destroy western culture?
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools Romans 1:22
How did we lose the fear of the Lord culturally?
By putting a question mark on the book of Genesis.
Beginnings matter. When Darwin questioned Genesis in science, He attempted to displace God as the First Cause of the Earth. That lead to Marxism in politics, Nietsche’s God-is dead based philosophy, case based law, survival of the fittest business concepts, outcome and socialization based education, Keynesianism in economics, liberalism in Churches, etc… even racism exploded after Darwin.
If Genesis is gone, nothing else really matters. If God didn’t create the world, what does Jesus need to die for? When the foundation was destroyed, what could the righteous do?
Psalms 11:3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
100 years later, the cultures that believed the bible were completely destroyed. Now sex sells everything, atheism is considered intellectual, and we are into the 3rd generation of government legalized and financed abortion. In our culture, we literally worship Baal (money & power) Asherah (sex), and Moloch (sacrificing our children).
How did Darwin put a question mark on Genesis?
He did it by looking at some birds! Some beaks were different sizes, some beaks were different colors… He also looked at the results of an earthquake, and saw that the habitats adapted. He also looked at some fossils… so God didn’t really create the earth. How did He make that quantum leap in nonsensical logic? He did it because He wanted to. He didn’t fear the Lord, so he had no access to knowledge or wisdom.
Real scientists have figured out that what Darwin observed is called genetics. Different species have different genes, and how they change is according to the genes that God designed them with. For instance, my wife is caramel colored, and I’m honey colored. Our son is yellow. Does that mean he’s evolving into a canary, and God doesn’t exist? Obviously not.
Do habitats change over time? Yes. Do certain species die out? Yes. Does that mean they came out of nothing? No.
Yet over 100 years after Darwin died, people still believe this foolishness. They even teach it. Darwin derived cause from a bunch of facts. But what was his cause? It can be found in the full title of his book: On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life
So Darwin’s real purpose was to prove that God didn’t exist (He wasn’t the Origin), and that certain races were favoured in the struggle for life. So His Godlessness led to racism.
When we preach the gospel , we run into this all the time. “Yeah I used to have faith but when I got here my professors said….”
Staring at Facts While Ignoring Cause is A Recipe For Disaster
How did people get so ignorant? It’s the power of inductive thought. Staring at the facts while making up stories about causes is a recipe for disaster.
That’s like buying a Ford F-150, taking it apart, listing all the pieces, and then telling Ford “you didn’t create this auto, I have all the parts right here.”
Most things from people to birds to building are made of mostly dirt and water. (hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon.) No matter how good you are at analyzing dirt and water, you cannot use it as an excuse to be willfully ignorant of the Creator that designed the different compositions of dirt & water.
“God, I studied all the dirt, and I didn’t see you.” Not only will you be going to hell, you will be an idiot going to hell.
Causes Matter.
Beginnings Matter.
The Fear of the Lord is the BEGINNING of Wisdom.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INDUCTIVE AND DEDUCTIVE THINKING

Inductive Thinking: Looking at the facts, conducting experiments, getting witnesses
“Starting from the top”
“Looking at the results, the fruits of the tree”
“Observing the facts on earth”

Deductive Thinking: Looking at causes, determining purpose, testing out truth
“Building from the bottom”
“Looking at the foundation, the roots of the tree”
“Beginning with Truth from Heaven.”
What is the cause of earth?
In the beginning, God.
All the facts were caused by the first cause. No amount of experimentation and observation of facts can change cause. If you want to know the cause, you have to start from the top. Looking at the facts to determine cause is like looking at a bunch of bird beaks and saying that “God didn’t create the world.”
The danger of inductive or deductive thinking on its own:
Inductive thinking by itself will blind you to reality, and cause you to think and act in a useless manner.
Deductive thinking (on its own) will cause you to know a lot but not do anything about it.
Inductive question: what are the facts?
Deductive question: what is the cause?
Inductive question: what all happened?
Deductive question: why did it happen?
Inductive question: what are the statistics?
Deductive question: what is the reason?
Let’s talk about a couple of natural examples:
NCAA national championship game (I wrote this before the game last week):
Why is Kentucky and Kansas in the national championship game?
Facts:
Kentucky averages 77.1 points per game (20th overall), 39.2 rebounds per game (15th overall), 13.3 assists per game (132nd overall).
Kansas averages: 75 points per game (36th overall), 36.9 rebounds per game (54th overall), 15.6 assists per game (21st overall).
Kentucky’s record was: 32-2
Kansas record was: 27-6
Causes:
They both have major shot blockers in the paint (Anthony Davis & Jeff Withey), which makes it harder for other teams to score in the paint where it’s supposed to be the easiest to score.
Their players are bigger and more athletic than most of their competition.
They are the winningest programs in NCAA history, and happen to have excellent coaching and top level recruiting the past couple of years. John Calipari goes after the best H.S. players in the nation, and Bill Self’s coaching staff (including big man coach Danny Manning, and female strength trainer Andrea Hudy) has really caused his big men to excel.
Kansas has an excellent ballhandling pg. Kentucky has great outside shooters.
Why did Kentucky win?
Kentucky has a greater concentration of the best players. Not only that, but the NBA lockout gave them a chance to play together against NBA players twice as strong and skilled as them. This wisdom made them a united and cohesive team even before the NCAA season started.
John Calipari uses Godly wisdom that is practical. He gets all the best high school players that were designed by God with an aptitude to be the best basketball players on the planet. Many of them come to him because his program (instead of trying to convince them to be used as cash cows for the NCAA for 4 years) is designed to get them making money with their talents as soon as possible, as grown men that have to provide for their families. This is a responsibility they have before God.
My Point:
Deductive thinking always leads back to God’s Purposes, God’s Wisdom, and God’s Truth. Inductive thinking just looks at facts on earth.
Let’s look at another example in the natural.
Trayvon Martin case:
Night of Trayvon Martin Killing Filled with Conflicting Reports
I don’t think the CAUSE of the killing was racism, which I talked about in ReThinking the Trayvon Martin Case. But I think that actually knowing the cause is the most important point. The media will try to distract us with a bunch of facts that don’t matter, and instigate black vs white, or right wing vs left wing conflicts with false causes.
The inner motivation for the fight or the killing is probably the same as for most killings: fear, anger, pride, and testosterone; i.e. “the flesh.” But in the case of the law, the inner cause doesn’t matter as much as the actual outer cause for the killing.
It doesn’t matter who is black, or white.
It doesn’t matter who was strong, who had a gun, who had bad grades, who was drunk, or that they fought.
If doesn’t matter if they both were members of the NAACP, or members of respective black and Hispanic rival gangs.
It doesn’t matter who cursed at who first, or how polite George Zimmerman was when he rolled up on a stranger with a truck.
It doesn’t matter how many witnesses are brought up to confirm the “facts” at the end of the fight.
What matters is the cause of the conflict. Cause is what matters.
If George Zimmerman had no justifiable outward cause to chase Trayvon, then Travyvon was innocent and George is guilty.
Proverbs 3:30Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
Here’s a question to make it clear why this was an injustice: If two guys in a bar get in a fight, and one pulls out a gun and shoots the other… Who goes to jail: the dead person or the one that killed him? Is it murder? Or is it aggravated manslaughter?
It may not be premeditated murder, but it may be aggravated manslaughter. I’ll tell you what doesn’t happen – HE DOESN’T GO FREE! And that’s on Private Property.
But what about Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law? Well who’s ground was it? He chased Trayvon on public property and started the conflict with no just cause. Then it went bad and he killed Trayvon. Any law that excuses that is a law not based in the Fear of the Lord, and is void of wisdom. The shedding of innocent blood defiles the land.
2 Samuel 23:3 The God of Israel said to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the Fear of God.
When you create laws based on the fear of man instead of the fear of God, you get these types of results. It all goes back to the Fear of the Lord being the beginning of Wisdom.
Beginnings Matter;
Causes Matter.
Foundations Matter.
Using facts at the end to determine cause is the dumbest thing since Darwin.
Really, both deductive and inductive thinking is necessary to make good decisions. But deductive thinking is primary, and inductive thinking takes a support role to confirm, support, or deny purposes and beginnings.
Inductive thinking comes naturally for most people. But it a world where believing in absolute truth is unpopular, deductive thinking is less common. Very few people believe in the first cause, or foundation of truth. As I said in the beginning, this effects everything. Even our laws, business, education, and politics have changed foundations from truth-based to case-study based.
Have you ever had a disagreement with someone who told a bunch of stories and brought up a bunch of facts that didn’t matter, because they ignored the root cause of the issue?
“Please forget about steps 1-3, but we remember 4-5, and we have documentation on steps 6,7,8… everybody saw 9-11 and we didn’t do ANYTHING wrong… but what happened all by itself at 12 was very very unfortunate.”
Beginnings Matter
Foundations Matter
First Causes Matter
Purpose Matters
Roots Matter, because what’s in the roots will eventually be in the fruits!
Here’s another example:
Abortion
The Birth Control Movement was response to the freedom of the slaves. Who funded birth control and the invention and propagation of family planning? Who inspired Hitler’s genocidal techniques. It was the American Birth Control league! Darwin (there’s that dummy again) told them that blacks were inferior in his book. (On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life)
Therefore Birth control and eugenics was caused by darwinism, and racism. How did people justify their racism? By distracting you with a bunch of facts that don’t apply to the cause. Even to this day, Planned Parenthood is primarily in urban environments, but they claim that abortion is about women’s safety and helping poor people. Who funded Margaret Sanger? The Birth Control Leauge, the former name for Planned Parenthood.
It doesn’t matter what story they come up with now, or that a black President loves it, or that it is entrenched in our society. What matters is cause.
WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?
In the Beginning, God Created Heaven and Earth. This is the root cause of all issues in life, and the source for all of our thinking.
God is the primary cause. God is the Beginning.
We depend on the Word of God for everything. We don’t do things because they “work.” We do things out of obedience to the Word.
We don’t let reality change our faith. We change reality with our faith, because we know the Creator.
Our doctrine is not determined by our experience, the Bible determines our doctrine and our experience.
Don’t fall a victim to inductive thinking. Get to know the Cause.
BEGINNINGS MATTER.
