7 Ways to Overcome – 7 Messages from Jesus – Intro

Art used by Pat Marvenko Smith, copyright 1992. To order prints visit her “Revelation Illustrated” site, http://revelationillustrated.com.

This is the final set of specific written instructions JESUS ever gave to His followers. It is crucially important! In it are special and specific clues on how to overcome the greatest temptations, deceptions, and trials of life. It was originally given to the Apostle of Love, John. It was recorded in The Revelation of Jesus Christ – A book that reveals God. Revelations reveals God’s Heart, God’s Glory, and God’s indubitable ownership of heaven and earth very clearly.

In this time of earth-wide pandemonium… most of the set-up for the final acts of Revelations is being put together. There are wars, rumors of wars, false prophets everywhere, increased deception, panic, and fear in the world. Apostasy is happening as even former Christians are falling away from the holy faith. The cultures of the world are increasing in rage against the standards of righteousness and holiness that God has set through His Son Jesus Christ. But Jesus is still the King of the Universe! (See Psalms 2).

This is the overview of the last days scenario: First Jesus will open the 7 Seals, one at a time. Then, angels will blow 7 Trumpets, one at a time. Jesus will come back at the 7th Trumpet, and finally begin to pour out 7 bowls of Wrath as He cleans up the earth and prepares to make it new. Please notice: Christ comes back to earth at the last Trumpet. There are 7 seals to be opened before any of the Trumpets, and 6 Trumpets before the Last Trumpet when the Church is raptured (1 Corinthians 15:52). So whatever your view is of the rapture – a basic reading of Revelations shows that you are going to be here through some Seals and Trumpets.

I say this because you need to strengthen your heart with knowledge and understanding of the plan and desires of God. Before all this happens, NOW is your time to understand and the 7 Messages of Jesus. These messages are for many different Churches, and it is written to strengthen the Believers in the context of the activities of Revelations. In these messages are 7 Ways for you to Overcome, no matter what type of Christian you are.

1st Message: How To Eat the Tastiest Fruit in the Universe!

Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-11)

3 Main Doctrines that Jesus Hates

3 Main Doctrines Jesus HATES in the 7 Final Messages to His Church.

(They are similar):

1. Doctrine of Balaam: Set Stumbling Blocks before God’s people so they can:

A. Eat food (harmless substance) that has been sacrificed to false gods.

B. Commit Fornication (spiritual and physical)

2. Doctrine of Nicolaitanes: Conquering & Corrupting God’s people so they can:

A. Commit Fornication (spiritual, physical)

B. Eat food (harmless substance) that has been sacrificed to false gods.

C. Nicolaitanes is linked closely with doctrine of Balaam. Nicolaitanes means “ to conquer laity.”

3. Doctrine of Jezebel: False Prophetess, False Teaching, Seduces Gods people to:

A. Commit Fornication (spiritual, physical)

B. Eat food (harmless substance) that has been sacrificed to false gods.

Notice that all of these doctrines that Jesus HATES have the same goal, but accomplish it different ways.

Balaam is trickery. “Just try it this way, it’s okay.”

Nicolaitanes is forceful. “Do it! Your ___ if you don’t. It’s okay.”

Jezebel is seduction. “It’ll be alright, it feels good… it’s okay.”

Fornication: Sexual pleasure & contact outside of marriage. Sexual pleasure is derived from chemicals that flow through your brain and bloodstream. It can be stimulated by sight, touch, and other senses. It is derived from your mind, and therefore… your mind is in control of it. Stop it. (Colossians 3:5).

Spiritually, it is allegiance to any Gods other than the true God (Isaiah 23:17, Ezekiel 16:26). It can also mean financial business agreements with sin involved.

Eating food sacrificed to idols. The Bible is clear that there are harmless things that would be otherwise okay, if they weren’t offered up to demons (1 Cor 8, 1 Cor. 10:28). In our culture it’s hard to understand this because we don’t live the same way they did. In their culture, the priests of the idol “god” of the city would promote feasts, games, festivals, etc. It would be like a party or concert or festival “sponsored by Diana”, or “Zeus.” It was kind of like corporate sponsorship today. “The Olympics, brought to you by ACME Inc.” They didn’t have TV, Movies, CDs, or Radio, or Internet. Festivals like this were the main entertainment and pastime of cultures surrounding the New Testament.

Any Christian knows that a piece of chicken is just a piece of chicken. God made it, God owns it. Eat it if you’re hungry! But all over the New Testament (Acts 15:20,29, 1 John 5:21), God instructs His people to display their love for Him by refusing to eat food that had been openly and knowingly offered to false gods. It’s not about the food, it’s about your love for your true God and love for your neighbor in not to causing them to stumble by seeing and following your example.

Although health is an entirely different subject, there are really no “demonic chicken dinners” or “idolatry pizza parlors” around anymore. Nowadays, the idols of entertainment take harmless music, and lace it with demonic deception – lyrically. They take harmless movies, and sacrifice them – via the script to the false gods of greed, fornication, false religions, relativism, atheism, violence, theft, homosexuality, etc…

Beware of those doctrines that Jesus HATES! They will try anyway they can to get you to accept fornication, idolatry, and compromise:

Balaamites will trick you into compromise.

Nicolaitanes will force and corrupt you into compromise.

Jezebellians will teach and seduce you into enjoying compromise.

Stick with Jesus, your first love!

GUM: Growth. Unity. Music.

G- Growth in the Kingdom

Growth in the Kingdom is:

1. Seeking God’s Kingdom within You!

2. Adding souls to the Christian Lifestyle!

YOUR Growth in the Kingdom

The Kingdom of God is WITHIN YOU!

….The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you! -Jesus, Luke 17

The Kingdom of God is IN YOU through your Knowledge of Jesus and of his Word, and you are always growing in that by studying, saying, obeying, and doing his Teachings, (the Bible).

But what are some other shortcuts & accelerators? How else can you grow in the kingdom?

Seek the Kingdom! Jesus instructions on seeking the Kingdom are in Matthew 6:

3: But when thou doest alms..
7: But when ye pray..

16: Moreover when ye fast..

19: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth..

31: Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat.. Drink.. be clothed?

33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness..

Matt 6

Read the rest for more details; but this is the basic outline on the “Seeking the Kingdom“ chapter..

1. Giving– giving to the poor and to the ministry and to brothers/sisters shows you how to seek heaven`s treasure more than earth`s, And THEN YOU`LL GET HEAVEN`S TREASURES.

2. Praying– Giving time in prayer will DEFINITELY make God`s Power & Favor overflow in your life. You will also Hear Him more! This is Exciting!-)

3. Fasting- Giving your energy to God by giving up food for a day or few will make your soul humble and give you more Kingdom Power and Supernatural Energy. You will also Hear Him a LOT more! This is Very Exciting!-)

4. Don`t Lay Up Treasure on Earth– just use what you need to support yourself and your family.

5. Don`t Worry about food and clothing!- God will provide!

OUR Growth in the Kingdom

We see a model for OUR Growth in the Kingdom of God in Acts 2:42. There was a great number of people getting saved AND PARTICIPATING in the LifeStyle. God didn’t say 3000 people just answered an altar call, He said 3000 souls were ADDED to them. This means they had 3000 additional People participating in their Doctrine Studies, Fellowships w/food, and Prayer Meetings.

41: Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42: And they continued steadfastly in the apostles` doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

46: And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47: Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Acts 2

This means they joined the Kingdom`s continual lifestyle of Loving God and loving Each Other. Before that day, there were only a few (like 120, Acts 2:1) people who were really following Jesus, meeting and praying together. After the Holy Ghost came and the Word was preached, 3000 people were added to that group of people that were studying the Teachings of Jesus, having fellowships with Food, and having Prayer Meetings. In Acts 2:42 I see 3 elements to that lifestyle:

  • apostles` doctrine – teachings from Jesus and about Jesus and His Kingdom
  • fellowship & breaking of bread – togetherness, and eating
  • prayers – meeting together and praying

42: And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Acts 5

In the Temple AND House to House

In Acts 5:42 we also see a similar principle. Its important not only to go to a temple or church building, but also to open up your house to Jesus and to people!

9: Use hospitality one to another without grudging. 1 Peter 4

1: Let brotherly love continue.
2: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13

2: A bishop then must be.. given to hospitality..1 Timothy 3

Do Bible Studies, fellowships with food, and prayer meetings at your house! You will be helping the Kingdom of God to grow!

The Lord of hosts also commands YOU to do this! Especially now in the last days!

7: But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8: And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
9: Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

1 Peter 4

definition of watch – Strongs # 3535 – nepho

1. to be sober, to be calm and collected in spirit

2. to be temperate, dispassionate, circumspect

definition of charity – Strongs # 26 – agape’

1. brotherly love, affection, good will, love, benevolence

2. love feasts

definition of hospitality – Strong’s # 5382 – philoxenos

1. hospitable, generous to guests

This scripture shows the atmospheres that Christians are to be setting in the last days. It’s a sober atmosphere of prayer, brotherly love, love feasts, and generous hospitality. If you read the next two verses (1 Peter 4:10,11), you’ll see that it’s an atmosphere where everyone should use their gifts with God’s confidence and power!

UNITY

Unity is important for the Body of Christ. It was one of Jesus’ last prayer requests’ that His people would be set apart by the truth and that they would be ONE!

19: And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20: Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21: That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

John 17

Notice in that verse 21 that Jesus said if we are One, the world might believe that the Father has sent Jesus! To me, that’s a Great Promise, and it shows that Unity is a HUGE Evangelism tool!

Unity is in the Mind

Unity does not necessarily mean that everybody has to be in the same place, or go to the same church.. There’s not a building big enough to hold everybody that loves Jesus! BUT true Unity is in the mind, when everyone knows and believes and speaks the same truth about the Kingdom of God.

5: Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
6: That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15

Out of all the attributes of God, why did He describe the God of Patience and Consolation to be the one that grants us to be likeminded towards one another? I’m so glad you asked!-)

WHAT DO WE DO?- to increase Unity in the Body of Christ?

Exhortation & Consolation

Exhortation- consolation, `calling near` or to encourage, urge, give advice

When you talk to someone in a consoling or encouraging way, call someone to come to a fellowship, or send them a letter, an email or text message, you are `calling them near.` It is much easier to have Oneness of Mind when there is open communication, edifying communication, and `calling near.` God told us to consider each other, and to provoke each other to walk in love and good works as we exhort or `call near` one another.

24: And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10

Consider Others- Provoke Love and Good Works- Exhorting (Calling Near) Others– Don’t Forsake Others!

Patience, Humility, Forgiveness, & Hard Work

Whenever you have relationships, you’re going to get hurt. Friendship is Bloody. Jesus gave his Blood and His Life so we could be his friends. So it`s important to work in forgiveness and forbearance if you want to have Unity…

..walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2: With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3: Endeavouring to keep the Unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4

Look at all the words that surround the scripture on Unity:

Vocation: Calling, Invitation

Lowliness: Humbleness of Mind, Lowliness

Meekness: Gentleness, Mildness, Meekness

Longsuffering: Patience, Endurance, Steadfastness, Slowness to Avenge

Forbearance: to Endure, Hold Up, Suffer, Bear With

Endeavoring: Work Hard, Labor, Diligence, Haste, Exertion

Wow! Wherever you find Unity of the Mind & Spirit, you’ll find humility, forgiveness and people working hard!

You really need a God of Patience and Consolation for all that! Let’s Call Him Jehovah El Patience & Consolation!-)

M.usic to Fill your Heart with the Word&Spirit of God

Music Helps you to live out God’s Commandments.

Make up songs and sing them to the Lord, and it will be a lot easier to live right.

Good Scripture-Based Songs also can renew your mind and teach you how to think.

Good Music fills your soul with the Spirit of God, as we can see in Ephesians 5:

18: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19: Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Ephesians 5

That means you can use music to fill your heart with the Spirit!

Good Music fills your soul with the Word of God, as we can see in Colossians 3:

16: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Colossians 3

That means you can use music to fill your heart with the Word!

When you have The WORD of God AND the SPIRIT of God, you have a POWERFUL COMBINATION!-)

That should give you an idea of the Power that can flow through music!

Make sure you use your music well!

If the Word of God, and the Spirit of God fill your soul through your use of music, are there other ”words” and other ”spirits” that can fill your soul also? YES! Watch out for music inspired by false understandings and wrong attitudes.

The music you listen to is very important. Never submit your soul to music that is not Biblical or spiritually right.

I used to use some of these excuses:

”But I don’t believe it; I just listen to it”

”I don’t listen to the lyrics; I just like the beats because they sound good”

The Bible Says: Faith comes by hearing (Rom 10:17)..

So if you continually and willfully HEAR music with lyrics that are unbiblical, you will BUILD UP YOUR FAITH IN A LIE. Then you will wonder why you have become spiritually stupid, desensitized, and unmotivated to live fully in the Kingdom. I’ve seen this happen to brothers & sisters in Christ over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over.. and over again.

Keep Your Soul Clean!

K-Drama’s Behind The Glory – Better Late Than Never!

K- Drama “Behind the Glory” Album Review

Better Late than Never!

Ok, so I slept on this album for a while… I’ve been an irresponsible dj:-( I got it back in 06’, and I knew it was good. I enjoyed a couple of songs like “Waste of Time” and “Let Freedom Bang.” However, Lecrae’s “Jesus Music” came out about the same time, and is one of the greatest albums ever, and that – plus the busyness of life, deejaying, and promoting concerts – kind of distracted me from taking time to listen completely to K-Drama.

But upon further review (listening more to the album last summer)… I have to conclude that K-Drama “Behind The Glory,” released by EMI Gospel/Holy Hip Hop in September 2006 is actually one of the Top 10 Albums in Holy Hip Hop history. It’s right up there with Lecrae & Trip Lee music, Flame, Ambassador, etc… I’m not trying to exaggerate. I listen to a lot of good music. This album is one that I can actually enjoy 95% of the album. There are actually no songs I have to skip consistently. (That is VERY rare for me, even among my favorite rappers and singers). The production is superb, the lyricism is excellent, and the ministry is on point. If you have been sleeping, stop!

The music on this album is one of its greatest strengths. It is studded with gems produced by Tony Stone, Todd Collins, Theory Hazit, Platinum Tips, and Redd Lettaz. Tony Stone really put his foot into this album! K-Drama is a producer himself; he has produced for Lecrae, Flame, R-Swift, Dillon Chase, Json, and others… So I can imagine that he would have an album full of top quality music. But he did a more than excellent job as an executive producer. I can honestly say I have never heard another album where so many different styles of hip hop music come together so perfectly. He has crunk tracks, club tracks, melancholy tracks, west coast tracks, fun tracks, take-you-to-church tracks, midwest styles… etc. They ALL sound good, and not one track sounds out of place. This album is a classic.

K-Drama’s style is very unique, which always puts you a little behind when it comes to popularity. He could have easily copied someone else’s voice, accent, and rhyme scheme and gained inroads to a lot of listeners. However, I tend to appreciate a unique, but still skilled rhyme style. He’s from Cincinnati, Ohio – not the East Coast or Dirty South, so it makes sense that he sounds like himself. However, he still sounds good. He doesn’t try to pass wackness for uniqueness; he knows how to rhyme with skill.

Another thing I appreciate about K-Drama’s music is its down-to-earthiness. He uses the Word of God, but also uses his own life experiences and testimony in his ministry. People tend to be more open to that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against nerdy scripture expositions. I do it all the time because that’s my gift, but I do know that people remember things best by examples. K-Drama’s “Behind the Glory” is an Open Book (a la DA’ TRUTH, but beforehand) into his life! He talks about his struggles in ministry, his middle school and high school days, moving out of his Mom’s house, driving to work in the morning… just about everything! But it’s not without a purpose or an anointing, he always has a point.

His ministry is powerful, his music is excellent, and his style is different. So, better late than never; I had to promote him a little bit! Here is a description of some my favorites from the album:

Behind the Glory

This is the title track… the beat is CRAZY! It’s a soul/shout/banger that seemlessly switches cadences in the middle of the song. It’s truly a gem from Tony Stone. In it K-Drama shares the story of his struggles to make it in the music ministry. His struggles “Behind the Glory” were definitely not glorious! This is my favorite joint.

Let’s Love Em’

This song hits home. In it K-Drama and MC Till tell stories about youth in the church and out that are struggling with drugs, homosexuality, pregnancy, abortion. This song really paints a picture of how horrible things are with our youth in this time… but how we really need to show them LOVE! Love never fails! The track is awesome, laid back, groove produced by Todd Collins.

Honored

(featuring the Grammy nominated Canton Jones) This song is meant to show how Canton Jones and K-Drama humbled and honored by the grace of God; and to give thanks for His grace and mercy.1 You know Canton Jones voice’ will add that extra blessing to any track he’s on!

Just a Man

This song is meant to “Expose his neglected childhood; which was the root of sins that are daily challenges until this day.”1 This song’s track makes you meditate as K-Drama stays down to earth and tells you his life struggles. I played this song once at a juvenile detention center and one young man came up and asked me to play it again because he felt it that much. To me that was an example of just how much his music can minister to struggling youth. It does, and K-Drama also does a lot of community work in his hometown of Cincinnati.

Trouble with the Law

This song is a genius presentation of the gospel. It’s a parable that describes how the sins that we commit get us in trouble with the law until God gets us out. This song reminds me of “Off the Hook” by Ambassador, one of the greatest hip hop songs ever made. The beat is a hypnotizing head banger by Theory Hazit.

Waste of Time

In this song that originally caught my attention, K-Drama talks about how he used to be a church pimp. I love this song because it exposes the boyfriend/girlfriend deception that has deceived the last few generations of western relationships and youth culture thought. Musically, it “has a funky, west coast, neo soul feel provided by the mastermind, Tony Stone.” “K-Drama unveils his testimony about his dealings with numerous girlfriends to fulfill the unquenchable void that only Christ can fill. He gets straight to the point of this song by chanting, ‘If yall ain’t getting married, then yall shouldn’t be together. It’s a

waste of time!’” 1 Amen! Western dating/boyfriend/girlfriend relationship culture is an unbiblical lie and a deception that has led many into adultery, divorce, and fatherlessness. It’s very sad… so choose God’s way instead!

Ohkay

This song’s video can be seen here on youtube: ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXDJ3Z9Xz_E ).

This song encourages and comforts anyone that’s struggling. He reminds you of Jesus Kingdom doctrine in Matthew 6… Seek the Kingdom and God first and everything will be “OhKay.”

Teeter Totter

This song is one of the hottest on the album, the one that got a lot of folks talking. In it he talks from James 1, about double-minded saints are unstable in all of their ways – kind of like “Teeter Totters.” It’s a rebuke of saints that backslide all the time, ministers that are unfaithful, and Christians that don’t keep their trust in God. Plus its fun! Platinum Tips produced this fire.

Moving On

This is light-hearted maturity song; K-Drama describes to his mother that he’s not “moving out” he’s “moving on.” This is a song that describes the spiritual AND natural growth that a man of God goes through in those transition years from youth to manhood as he prepares for a wife and family. You don’t hear a lot of lifestyle songs like this in hip hop.

That’s a few of the songs. You can get the album to find out more about the rest of the songs. Better late than never! This is a classic album; you definitely want to add it to your hip hop collection. K-Drama is unique, talented, representing the Kindgom, and here to stay! His next album is coming out this Fall 2008. I’ve heard a few tracks from it, and it sounds good. But before it comes out, go pickup “Behind the Glory!”
