2 Kings 23:5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the PLANETS, and to all the host of heaven.
A: Look it up in the Strongs. A lot of confusion can be cleared up that way.
In the text the word is “mazzalah” which simply means “constellations.”
Constellations are simply different patterns of stars that God placed in the heavens. In Genesis Yah shows us that He placed the stars in the firmament as a time piece for the year. People have been observing the stars moving in the same circular pattern for almost 6000 years.
People have also been worshipping these stars as idols for thousands of years. Thats what this Scripture is referring to – idolatry.
Idolatry is when you refuse to acknowledge the work of the Creator and choose to create your own version of reality. One modern example is choosing to ignore the firmament and creating a science fiction fantasy such as an ever-expanding outer space full of planets and aliens.
