When you envy your oppressor, you end up choosing his ways.
You subconsciously try to be a smaller version of your oppressor.
You become inhospitable to strangers, you become greedy, you become someone looking to exploit those that are weaker than you.
Then you raise your children with the same mindset.

Revelation 13:10
