7th Message: How to Sit With Jesus on His Throne!
A Message from Jesus to Lukewarm Christians that Don’t Change Anything
(Laodicean) Revelation 3:14-22
Jesus describes Himself:
1. THE AMEN- the So Be It.
Jesus is a PROMISE. Definite. Unshakeable. Unchangeable.
2. Faithful and True Witness:
Jesus Unceasingly represents and DECLARES Without Hiding the Truthful Reality of what is happening.
3. Beginning of the Creation of God:
Jesus is the Chief element over, and the reason for the Creation. All things were BY Him, THROUGH Him, and FOR Him.
Why did Jesus describe Himself in this way to this Laodicean group of Christians?
He did it because they weren’t changing anything. Jesus Changes things. He’s the AMEN: a promise, so circumstances adjust to Him. He’s a Faithful and True Witness who won’t keep silent on Truth. He originated the whole creation, He is the definition of change and movement and growth.
I KNOW, and am intimately acquainted with: your WORKS (enough to taste them). You are neither cold nor not. So, because you are lukewarm, I will spit you out of my mouth.
What do people feel when they drink cold drinks? They feel energy move and it changes their temperature.
What do people feel when they drink something hot? It moves energy and changes their temperature.
Jesus is saying that the WORKS of these Christians weren’t changing anything, they just fit in, they were accepted, the didn’t rock the boat, didn’t challenge anything that was going on, they didn’t cause any energy to be stirred up in their surroundings. They didn’t represent Jesus at all.
22: And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Jude
Jesus wants us to change things that surround us- sometimes with compassion, making a difference in people’s lives – sometimes with fear and hatred of sin (warning people about consequences of disobedience to God). What Jesus does NOT want us to do is just fit in with the world, not saying anything or changing anything.
This group of Christians was lukewarm- they fit in perfectly, they didn’t change anything around Him. They didn’t represent Jesus as the AMEN (a certain promise), as a Faithful Witness (not afraid to speak the truth about what is going on), or as the Originator of Creation (the Root and Cause of all things).
Yet, they were “blessed and prosperous.” They obviously had increases in material wealth, and they bragged about it.
But Jesus looked at them with spiritual eyes: He called them poor (spiritually), wretched, miserable, blind, and naked (spiritually).
Jesus sees things VERY differently from the obvious physical appearance. Jesus always sees into the spiritual realm of all His people.
Jesus counsel: He uses things they can understand. He tells them to solve their spiritual problems with spiritual solutions.
1. BUY from me GOLD tried in the FIRE (1 Peter 1:7). FAITH that goes through tribulation is spiritual GOLD. “Don’t make it easy for yourself. Don’t run away from challenges and trials. Believe me for something harder than riches. Believe me in tough circumstances where you don’t fit in with everybody. Believe me for something that’s not easy, like changing your surroundings.
2. BUY from Me WHITE RAIMENT. White raiment is righteousness. Righteousness is given to us by our faith in Christ. But it is also righteous acts (Revelation 19:8). Stop fitting in with the world, do things right. Do righteous acts.
3. ANOINT EYES with EYESALVE, that you may see. Seek God for the anointing of the Holy Ghost to give you spiritual insight. (Ephesians 1:17). The reason you fit in is because you can’t see anything different. The reason you think you’re all good when you are really wretched, blind, miserable and naked, is because you CAN’T SEE spiritual things at all. Anoint your spiritual eyes to see spiritual realities. Everything is NOT all good. Things need to change around here!
As many as I LOVE… I rebuke and chasten, therefore be ZEALOUS and REPENT.
Jesus comforts us, telling us that the reason He rebukes us and chastens us is love for us. He tells us to Be Zealous. If you are used to fitting in, repent, change and be Zealous. Lukewarm Christians that don’t change the spiritual atmosphere or change anything might start making fun of you for being zealous, but JESUS wants you to be zealous! I’ll stick with Jesus.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
The Invitation is open. Jesus is actively looking for people to eat with and be with. Jesus only likes people that change things in the spiritual atmosphere (He spits the lukewarm out of his mouth).
PROMISES to those that OVERCOME!:
“If you overcome lukewarmness, fitting in, and not changing anything, and you instead become ZEALOUS, with FAITH (spiritual money and spiritual riches), RIGHTOUSNESS (spiritual white clothing), and ANOINTED EYESALVE (spiritual eyesight):
Not only will you be a member of my kingdom in heaven, but I will let you sit with me on my throne…. Like I overcame, and am sitting with my Father in His throne.
YOU CAN SIT WITH JESUS ON HIS THRONE IF YOU OVERCOME LUKEWARMNESS! CHILLING WITH JESUS AND HELPING HIM RULE the UNIVERSE.
That will be awesome!
If you have spiritual ears, please pay attention and meditate these things!
