Lecrae finally admits that what he’s doing now is totally different than when he started serving Jesus Christ
This is a response to a question from a 12 year old young man… and its addressed to many young people who don’t understand the difference between true evangelism and counterfeit evangelism, and why we have to take a stand against the counterfeit. I say this because this writing is not a personal attack, it is spiritual protection for this generation that is called to seek His face (Psalm 24).
First, let’s look at this interview about Lecrae being the “Number One Christian Rapper in the Universe”:

You talk a lot about how you’ve matured in your thinking and your craft. I’m curious if the old Lecrae would be disappointed in the new Lecrae.
For sure he would. [Laughs]
In what way?
“Aw man you’re selling out. You’ve fallen off man.” I’m sure that would be the way my old self would think about it.
I would just sit my young self down and have a calm conversation articulating the reasons why I’m doing what I’m doing, and try to point out some of the self-righteous areas in my young self’s life. Hopefully it would be a good conversation.”

First off, in this public interview, Lecrae says that his “old self” (not his life of sin, but his first four or five albums of Christ-centered ministry) was just self-righteous ignorance, in need of a good calm conversation.
First problem- he has 2 selfs. Not an unsaved self, and a new man in Christ – but a saved self-righteous self, then a newer, more “mature” saved self that can do the opposite of his first-saved self.
So since in his mind he has two different “selves” in Christ – if you really want to discern or evaluate the difference between the two this is what you need to do:
Think for yourself, and with an open bible. Ignore Award Shows, Sales, Crowds and men’s opinions.
Listen to his first four albums. Were Lecrae’s original teachings teaching you how to be self-righteous, or was He teaching you to follow Christ and love Him with your whole heart?
In his first four albums was he reaching you with self-righteous ignorance, or with holiness and revealing truth?
Whatever you decide, it’s clear that even he sees two different “self’s”. What is also clear is that both versions of Lecrae can’t be right. One has to be in truth, and the other has to be in error.
If what he was doing before was nothing but self-righteous ignorance, then make a decision to repent for supporting it. Self-righteousness is filthy, unfruitful, and it makes those that follow it twice-as-hell bound as the hypocrites that do it (Matthew 23:15). If you supported it or followed it, you were or are headed to destruction, if it was self-righteous hypocrisy.
If its not – then what is he doing now?
If he is so clearly contradicting with his current actions the message of holiness and authentic evangelism in his first four or five albums, what does that say to you? Now that he has “matured” into doing the opposite of what he said in his first four albums, what decision do you make? If he can partner with unbelievers when the bible clearly says don’t fellowship in ministry with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6), which self is correct?
What does that say to young Christians who don’t know any better, and don’t know their bible yet? What kind of example is he setting to the 13 year old who is inspired by his talent level? Should we all avoid holiness and try our best to get our message watered down and approved by unbelievers?
Do we all get to graduate from sanctification (being separate from the world’s false ministries and ways) one day?
Or is it only if we are really talented that we get to dive back into babylon (the world’s ways and ministries) without consequences?
These are important things to think about, and the spiritual influence of yet another generation is at stake.
Whatever you decide to think about this issue, make sure it’s cool with GOD, not with facebook; make sure its based on the bible, not twitter followers, internet interviews and album sales.
More things to think about:
Believe it or not, there are multi-generational spiritual consequences to substituting holiness for mixture. Ask any famous “gospel music family.” The devil gives you what you don’t need so that he can steal what you already have, only if you let him lie and tell you that God is not enough. The talent that God gave you plus the Word of God and Holy Spirit is more than enough for you to evangelize and disciple and change the world. The “fruit” of disobedience is always spiritual destruction, even if it starts out with fame and takes 30 years for the blood on your hands to show up.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. 8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
Consequences of “Maturing” into Disobedience:
Revelations 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
Don’t You Know that Friendship with The World is Enmity with God, and that the Holy Ghost zealously desires to possess ALL of your souls, more and more… not less and less? :
James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. 5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
People don’t want to understand the error of Balaam, even though it’s mentioned several times in the 1st and 2nd testament. Balaam said everything correctly, and even prophesied about Jesus thousands of years before Jesus came. Yet Balaam was STILL a false prophet not because of what he SAID, but because of who he partnered with, and how his wicked partnership used him to learn how to put a stumbling-block before God’s people.
Read Numbers 22, Jude, 1 Peter, and Revelations 2.
People love counterfeit evangelism because they reject the Holy Ghost, who gives you the power to Be a WITNESS A.k.a Living Martyr. i.e. real evangelist… so they water down (corrupt) the gospel to spread their influence, and call it evangelism.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
If grace builds you up and makes you sanctified (set apart from the world), why do people use grace to justify themselves doing whatever they want?
Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
Know this: No matter how young or old you are, there is infinitely more spiritual fruit and “fruit that remains” in obedience than there is in clever and talented disobedience. God is not mocked.
Ecclesiastes 11:9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
Finally, can anyone show me an example in the Word of God where Jesus partnered with the workers of iniquity to spread the message of the Kingdom of God?
