Q: I saw your comments regarding false worship songs in a post and you mentioned bethel… please can you educate me further on that ? How can I know a real Holy Spirit filled worship song?
A: Thanks so much for your question… The gifts and callings of God are without repentance. A lot of times, someone can produce good music inspired by the Holy Spirit, but their ministry is still contaminated. Each one of their individual songs might not necessarily contaminate your spirit, but their overall “example” or “influence” will.
What tipped me off to the corruption in Bethel was when I saw them mix a secular song with one of their worship songs in a set. Whenever a worship artist feels the need to mix an ungodly song with their ministry, that is a manifestation of the doctrine of Jezebel (Revelation 2:20).
That was just the first tip, and that usually leads to a lot of other problems and errors, such as divorce & remarriage (adultery), an apostasy towards truth, and a rejection of the spirit of Elijah (repentance to the commandments of God).
This leads to a ministry that is more about influence than holiness. That’s the doctrine of Jezebel in a nutshell.
The problem with mixing the holy with the profane is that while it may increase your “influence” and “relevance” it leads others to follow an example of mixture instead of holiness.
It’s important for God’s servants to be separate from the world, not secretly drawing their inspiration from ungodly sources.
A lot of times there’s no way to tell if a worship artist or minister is secretly mixing his music with profane idolatry.
But if you stop focusing on talent and sound, and focus more on their actual ministry doctrine, action, and the fruit of their family/congregation, then you will eventually see the fruit of those who are pure.
