Jannes & Jambres: Satan’s Magicians Do Wise Miracles to Avoid Repentance

Whenever God does miracles to confirm his message of repentance and obedience… Satan’s next step is not to back down or give up. Satan’s response is always to raise up the same miracles to compete with God’s, but distract men from God’s Goal – the message of repentance and obedience.

Exodus 7:¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.¹¹ Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.¹² For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods. ¹³ And he hardened Pharaoh’s heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had said.

Mind Boggling Power, but Satan can do it too

First of all, realize that this was a crazy miracle. A literal piece of wood was transformed into a snake. God did this miracle to show that He had power over matter. Then Pharoah had his magicians do the same miracle! Imagine a literal piece of wood turning into a snake. That’s mind-boggling. But people that didn’t know God could do it too, with magic and wisdom.

Recognizing the Pattern

This is a pattern that you can observe often in the Kingdom of God. Whenever God moves to bring a message of repentance and obedience to bring freedom to a people or a generation – Satan brings opposition. Satan does this by clever imitation and competition. Just like Pharoah, Satan knows that if he can get someone to do the same thing God is doing, he can get people to avoid God’s message of repentance.

So if God does miracles, Satan will have somebody do miracles and avoid the message of repentance and obedience.

If God shows love, Satan will have someone show love and avoid the message of repentance and obedience.

If God brings wants to bring revival to a city, Satan will raise up someone with power to do the same thing, while avoiding the message of repentance and obedient uncomfortable change.

If God wants to rescue a generation, Satan will raise up counterfeits using wisdom to reach a generation, while they avoid the ultimate message of repentance and change.

This is why the Spirit of AntiChrist gets stronger and stronger the closer we get to Jesus Christs return. There are many antiChrists, and the ultimate AntiChrist will amaze the world with miracles, signs, and wonders – only to distract people from the Spirit of Elijah and the Law of Moses that God will be confirming with supernatural power and two specific witnesses (Revelations 11:3-7).

The 2nd Testament calls this “Resisting the Truth.”

2 Timothy 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

In the 2nd Testament we find out the names of these wise magicians… Jannes and Jambres. They eventually couldn’t really match the power of God, but they did their best and competed for a while… all to help Pharoah avoid obedience.
