WAS JESUS TALKING ABOUT ADULTERY OR FORNICATION? #TOLD
Q: Hey Sos, I heard that if there was adultery within the marriage they could get divorced and it not be shunned upon. Is that correct?
A: No, thats a lie introduced by a false teacher in the Catholic church named Erasmus.
When Jesus said that he was referring to Hebrew Betrothal mentioned in Deuteronomy 22.
Jesus said “fornication” NOT adultery. It was provision for a Hebrew man whose fiancee lied about being a virgin to annul the covenant after the wedding night.
Its only mentioned in Matthew because Matthew was written to a Judean audience.
You see an example in Matthew 1 when Joseph planned on divorcing Mary because she was found pregnant with Jesus before they got married. But the angel came to Joseph and reassured him that his wife was still a virgin. The Jews provision for divorce was for pre-wedding fornication, not for adultery after the marriage.
