CAN I “FLIP” PAGAN THINGS FOR GOD?

TRUTH OVER LIES DAILY

Q: I have a question: Is it sinful to turn pagan traditions into holy traditions? Like change the meaning of something that was evil, and make it good? Would that be a way of setting it apart?

A: No not if the pagan tradition is idolatry. Idolatry is not redeemable, its only REPENTABLE.

If the pagan tradition is not sacrificed or dedicated to idolatry, then there’s no conflict with the Kingdom. If it’s just something natural and common, then it can go either way.

Scriptures teach us to “Learn not the way of the Heathen.”
Jeremiah 10: 2 Thus saith the LORD, LEARN NOT THE WAY OF THE HEATHEN, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

Deuteronomy 12: 29 When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land; 30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou ENQUIRE NOT AFTER THEIR GODS, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? EVEN SO WILL I DO LIKEWISE.

Many of the most egregious errors and sins in the Kingdom of God have come when people have tried to serve God in the way prescribed by the ungodly.

For instance: covetousness and greed is idolatry.

How do you feel when you see TV preachers getting rich off the backs of the poor for Jesus, by promising the poor Carnal riches?

How do you feel when the TV preacher “redeems” his covetousness by making it “for Jesus”? Or “for the gospel”?

But then we turn around and make EXCUSES for our FAVORITE FORM OF IDOLATRY because we can “redeem it” for the gospel, or “redeem it” for Jesus.

The Scriptures teach that Idolatry can simply be Worshipping God in the wrong Way.

Exodus 32:8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

1 Corinthians 10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

When the children of Israel went into idolatry, they were still worshipping.

They simply just decided to worship the gods that brought them out of Egypt in the wrong way. Doing things the way God has commanded is very important in worship.

1 Corinthians 11: 19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, THEY SACRIFICE TO DEVILS, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have FELLOWSHIP WITH DEVILS.21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? ARE WE STRONGER THAN HE?

When Gentiles worship idols, they are really worshipping devils. Therefore what the world is doing is a sacrifice to an idol, don’t go with them. Don’t copy them.

We are not smarter or wiser or stronger or better at reaching people than Jesus.

Jesus is not jealous of our clever strategic ways we come up with to reach people for Him.

We are not stronger than Him. He’s smarter and stronger than us.

His ways are better than our ways, and our ways are FAILURE when we disobey His ways.

For example:
Roman Catholicism: took all the pagan rituals and made them Christian. Saturnalia was one of the wicked and idolatrous festivals that pagan’s had developed according to the signs of the heavens (see above scripture Jeremiah 10:2).

The problem with the Roman Catholic church turning Saturnalia into Christ’s mass is that the Roman Catholic church is pagan itself and is full of idolatry. It’s full of the spirit of antichrist. In the end, the fruit is what proves it out.

The fruit of “redeeming” pagan idolatry has proven to be rotten over time. But unfortunately the same people that think they are “smarter and stronger” than the Lord are not wise enough to observe their fruit for a long enough time to tell that it is rotten.

We have a New Covenant with Yah through His Son Yashua (aka Jesus the Messiah) and we have a New and Living way to serve the Father. Kingdom Gospel, Kingdom Commandments, and Kingdom Ordinances. Let’s do that and stay away from idols.
