FALSE PROPHETS WITH SMOOTH WORDS FOR NEW YEARS?

TRUTH OVER LIES DAILY
Q: Reading Jeremiah 23 and wanted your thoughts. The Lord talking about false prophets and verse 16 is where I had a question. So every new years these pastors give messages that this is the year of such and such. Without sowing there is no harvest. So how can this be a year of whatever is said if there is no seed in the ground for it? Do you understand my question?
A: Here’s the Scripture in question:
Jeremiah 23: 14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.
16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.
It’s interesting you brought that scripture up because I was just looking at it for another reason.
I get your question. A lot of times pastors may have a prophetic Word or sense what the Spirit is doing for the obedient.
Then we may present the Word to the public without differentiating that the word of blessing is conditional to the obedient.
But in reality, every prophetic judgement is 2-sided. There is a reward side and a punishment side… depending on your works and the seed you’ve sown prior to the prophetic declaration.
I believe it can be more effective and balanced to teach God’s word and give understanding of the eternal laws of sowing and reaping along with the prophetic Word in it’s season.
So in Jeremiah 23 he’s referring to pastors and prophets who refuse to give people understanding and a balanced prophetic word of reward and judgement.
A lot of times its tempting to give people the positive side of everything so they will listen to you and like you instead of giving them the realness that they need.
