the Devil uses our Youthful Lusts to take us captive

The Devil uses our “youthful lusts” as a shiny carrot at the end of a stick to attract us and take us captive into doing his will. These “youthful lusts” consist of:
– the desire for fame

– the desire for self-expression without responsibility

– the desire for sexual expression without responsibility

– the desire to avoid working 6 days a week and to live off the labor of others

– the desire to be rich

– the desire to dominate other people

– the desire to be your own god on the same level as God
Satan uses people that have the appearance of having attained “success” in these youthful lusts.

He displays these people prominently as “shiny carrots” and his examples, so that we can follow after our youthful lusts and be taken captive by satan to do his will.

This is why arguing with someone who desires success with their youthful lusts is a waste of time. All you can do is patiently teach and hope they get set free from the devil someday.
2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will
