Did God Change Saul’s Name to Paul?

Who changed Saul’s name to Paul?

Did God do it? No. God called Him Saul when he sent them to preach to Europeans and Asians:

Acts 13:2

As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

On his first trip, Saul met a Roman leader named Sergius Paulus. This Roman leader also had a Judean Sorcerer with him named Elymas:

Acts 13:7

Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

Saul preaches the gospel to the Roman deputy, and curses the Judean sorcerer with blindness for trying to stop the gospel of the Kingdom from being preached:

Acts 13:11

And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. 12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

After this, Saul (a Hebrew Israelite of the tribe of Benjamin) named himself Paul after his first convert as an apostle of a different ethnicity than himself:

Acts 13:13

Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.

Saul’s first trip was reflecting his entire ministry. The unbelieving Yehudim were constantly trying to stop Paul from preaching the gospel of the kingdom to Europeans and Asians.

His use of different languages to preach the Kingdom of God was so instrumental that he gave himself a European nickname. He named himself after his first Roman convert as an apostle.

Paul’s use of different languages was not to confuse people, or to disrespect God’s law, or because he didn’t like his Hebrew heritage, or because he was ashamed of his holy lifestyle.

Paul’s use of different languages was so that he could relate to different ethnicities of people as easily as possible, so that he could spread the gospel of the kingdom of Christ:

1 Corinthians 9

19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

23 And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

The Unlearned and Unstable Twist Apostle Paul’s Words against God’s Words

Apostle Paul proved that SALVATION couldn’t come from the law, but He never disrespected the law ( AUTHORITY) of YAH. Paul had a prophetic understanding of the the curse of the law, and therefore rightly divided it – the ceremonial & cultural law from the moral & natural law – in order to bringthe salvation of Israel to the Gentiles.
Apostle Paul preached entrance into the kingdom by faith, but he never violated the moral law or taught rebellion against it. I can always tell the Unlearned and Unstable (2 Peter 3:16) by their willingness to try and twist Paul’s Words against God’s Word, to their own destruction.
Psalms 119:126

It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law
Isaiah 42:21

The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.
Matthew 5

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Romans 7:12

Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
1 John 5

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

The Missing Link in YOUR Spiritual Warfare

If you never correct yourself, your correction of others becomes useless. Its not about you vs them, its about GOD Himself.

When you also correct yourself, GOD Himself makes your words more powerful.

People focus so much on tearing down strongholds but they don’t focus on verse 6, the “other half,” the “missing half” of spiritual warfare. Fulfilling your own obedience.

2 Corinthians 10

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

God can’t fully revenge disobedience until your obedience is fulfilled. The same zeal you have for correcting others, use it on yourself. It will make your warfare more effective. Separate the precious from the vile, then you will really be like God’s mouth (Jeremiah 15:19). If Jeremiah had to adjust his vocabulary, who are we to say we can never improve the way we deliver God’s message? You don’t have to back down from the message at all, just purify it. Then God will make sure He does the rest, and He will win His battles for you.

Jeremiah 15
19 Therefore thus saith the Lord, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.
20 And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the Lord.
21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.

The apostle Paul was great at this. There are many scriptures in the Bible where you see Paul saying (paraphrased) “This is what the Lord is saying, and this part is just my opinion…” If only we could understand Paul at the same level Paul understood the Word of God!

God could trust Paul with greater revelation because He knew that Paul could discern rightly between his voice and Gods voice. Paul honored the Lord by doing this. Paul was careful never to attribute his opinion or his excitement as the infallible word of God.

Moses was a great prophet, but he failed to get into the promised land because he let his anger distort God (Read Numbers 20). God told him to speak to the rock. The rock represented Christ. The rock had already been struck once. Instead of speaking to the rock, Moses struck it again, twice.

Elijah was a great prophet, but he let his emotions distort Gods viewpoint and it affected his ability to act on Gods word. Elijah had to give over his responsibility to a prophet with double portion AND a king, just to complete what Elijah was supposed to do by himself (Read 1 Kings 17). This one paragraph could be an entire book of understanding.

Saints of today, we need to make sure we are humble enough to fulfill our obedience, and purify our words. Purity and Consistency instead of hypocrisy and posturing will make us more powerful.

Paul and the Lambs Wife

Paul taught that men should work a job, not only to eat, but to support their wife and family. Paul did not have a wife, but he still worked a job in ministry.

However, even though he wasnt supposed to, Paul additionally worked a natural-based job to help maintain the purity of the Lambs Wife (the Church), instead of joining in or competing with the wolves who saw it as their job to eat off the Lambs wife by corrupting the church instead of building her up.

Isn’t it interesting that a lot of the prophets, apostles and teachers in the Bible who called the Church, or God’s people, back to purity were either working natural jobs or fresh off of regular jobs? Jesus was a carpenter, Paul was a tent maker, Daniel was an administrative official, Nehemiah was a cupbearer, Amos was a farmer.

It’s not a sin to be in full time ministry – but sometimes, when there are too many ministers that see it as their job to eat the flock instead of feed the flock – God sends in fresh workers who don’t have pressure to eat off their ministry, but will instead work to restore purity.

Who Reveals the Mystery? – Calvin & Arminius or Christ & the Church

Men try to discuss the deep things of God using dead men like Calvin and Arminius (dead men’s bones).

The Holy Spirit reveals the mystery of the gospel of Christ using the marriage of Christ & the Church.

Ephesians 5
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Voodoo and Ku Klux Christians : Syncretism – Are you Christian or Cretan?

Voodoo and Ku Klux Christians

Do you know how many voodoo practitioners also love Jesus “too?”

Do you know how many Ku Klux Klansmen are faithful in their church and claim Jesus “too?”

It’s called “SYNCRETISM” folks! And it’s the opposite of True Worship.

Whenever you try to “add Jesus” to a list of other false idols and cultural demonic strongholds you are not worshipping Jesus Christ at all.

Jesus did not die on the cross and resurrect from the dead so He could be the last option on your iPod, or be added to your list of authentic hip hop alternatives. He’s not interested in syncretizing with you Greek Idol or Masonic covenants either. If you can’t get rid of the false you are not in the Truth. He is the King of All.

John 4
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

syn·cre·tism

[sing-kri-tiz-uhm, sin-]  Show IPA

noun

1.

the attempted reconciliation or union of different or opposing principles, practices, or parties, as in philosophy or religion.

Origin:
1610–20;  < Neo-Latin syncretismus  < Greek synkrētismós  union of Cretans, i.e., a united front of two opposing parties against a common foe, derivative of synkrēt ( ízein ) to syncretize + -ismos -ism

CRETANS ARE ALWAYS LIARS

Its interesting that the word syncretism came from the root word meaning: “a union of Cretans”

Look what the Apostle Paul in Titus said about the Cretans (Crete was an actual city in Greece; Paul discerned and addressed this spiritual root in that city hundreds of years before the word “syncretism” was even coined):

Titus 1

11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Cretans and “Syncretizers” of today hate purity, they would rather defile everything by mixing false worship, cultural idolatry, fables, and the commandments of men with it. They profess that they know God, but in works they deny Him.

So are you a Christian or Cretan?

Greco-Roman Religion vs The Kingdom of God

Greek Religious culture was all about articulation, art, oratory and vocal performance. That’s why when Herod gave a great speech they worshipped him and said “it’s the voice of a god, not a man.”Acts 1221 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.24 But the word of God grew and multiplied. But in the midst of this God built a faith that was about reality, with real people instead of performers, who walked in real obedience, real truth, and real love.Paul made sure he showed the difference in the kingdom of God and the Greek mentality:1 Corinthians 21 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.Unfortunately when Constantine made Christianity the official religion of Rome thru the Roman Catholic church, many of the worldly philosophies and mentalities began to destroy the Church of God from within. Many of these things are stuck within the way we try to serve God today.Today God is looking for a people who will worship Him in Spirit and Truth and leave the Greco- Roman mentality behind. Those who will embrace the cross, and walk in the reality of the Spirit of God and obedienceo instead of the eyes and praise of men. Those are the people who will have the power to obey God when deception is passed on as truth.
