IS IT A COINCIDENCE THAT OUR PEOPLE WERE GIVEN THE SABBATH AFTER BEING SET FREE FROM THE EGYPTIANS?
IS IT A COINCIDENCE THAT THE FIRST FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED JUNETEENTH FROM OUR AMERICAN CAPTIVITY IS ON THE SABBATH DAY?
IS IT A COINCIDENCE THAT THE APOSTATE CHURCH HATES IT WHEN YOU WALK IN YOUR SABBATH FREEDOM FROM THEIR BONDAGE?

🌬My enslaved ancestors could not rest.
They worked from sunup to sundown.
They had no agency over their work.
They had no control over their time.
Some say Shabbat is being in “bondage to the law” but put your feet in the sandals of a newly freed Hebrew slave.
Put your feet into the shoes of a recently freed enslaved person in America.
Now think about how radical this statement is from the vantage point of the enslaved:
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to Yah your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.”
-Exodus 20:8-10
Shabbat is not bondage but it is freedom especially for those of us who had ancestors who could not rest. This Juneteenth let us remember that we serve a Yah who desires rest for us all.
