Q: Playing music is cool, but I’ve never understood why people idolize music and musicians. Never ever ever in my whole life (ok, maybe at 13 but I think that’s it). Wondering: do you idolize music and/or musicians? If so, why?

A: Lol at 13. Yes, idolizing musicians is kind of childish. I think the main reason is because musical talent is pimped by industry and used to fuel youthful lusts – lust for riches, lust for a slothful life without work, lust for impact without servanthood, and lust for fame.

Those with commercial interests use (pimp) talented people and put them on a pedestal so that they can inspire youth to chase these things.

2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Lamentations 5:14 The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick.

Ezekiel 33:32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
