IS A DANIEL FAST A REAL FAST? #TOLD

Q: Is a Daniel fast a real fast? How did we come to start recognizing the Daniel Fast as a fast?

A: The reason we recognize it as a fast is because Daniel set this time apart as a period of mourning and seeking the Lord, and he set it apart by a partial fast from certain types of foods…

Daniel 10:2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. 3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

It’s a good way for pregnant women, developing children, and busy people to seek the Lord when they are not able to do complete fasts.

God also recognized Daniel seeking God when he sent the angel in response to Daniel’s time period of mourning and fasting:

Daniel 10:12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
