I’m definitely not talking about crazy stuff like just randomly spanking somebody else’s kids, or just trying to tear people down that you don’t know.
Proverbs also says that he that meddleth in strife not belonging to him takes a dog by the ears, its foolish.

But most good open rebuke is just “preaching the Word, in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and doctrine.”
When you stand for the truth and preach the truth your life and your words are an open rebuke to those that don’t like the truth. “he that keepeth the law contends with the wicked”

I’m definitely all about relationships and spiritual authority. You have to treat people like family (elders like fathers, brothers & sisters, etc) if they are family. But this is where the whole corporate style covering doctrine goes wrong: there’s no scriptures that say you can’t give rebuke to anyone unless you are their “covering.” You can give rebuke for the potential eternal benefit of the person, or for the potential eternal benefit of the people under their influence.

Spiritual Authority is totally different from World-system corporate style authority. Its actually based on servant-hood (which also includes) speaking of the Word in due season (aka “your feet are dirty, let me wash your feet).

So the corporate style “lording and ruling over and covering” is actually the antithesis of kingdom leadership because it prevents people from speaking the Word unless they have a corporate position of authority. This is why Paul was able to rebuke Peter even though he wasn’t his covering. Nathan was able to call out David. John the Baptist was able to rebuke everyone, (even spiritual authorities) from the desert, with no corporate link to them. Spiritual authority is based on the Spirit speaking the Word, not babylon-style corporate authority structures, no matter how spiritual these babylon (Jesus called it Gentile) style systems are made to seem.

In 2 Cor 10 (and really all of 2 corinthians) Paul was actually trying to show the foolishness and worldly mindset of false apostles who compared themselves by their reach and used that to try to discredit Paul’s message. He was talking about his boasting and his fruit in discipling souls. He was not trying to establish a corporate-style leadership doctrine, because that would have been the opposite of what Jesus taught.

Matt 20
25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said , Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant

Matt 23
8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

First the one being rebuke will not take it even if it’s a honest and sincere rebuke because the one giving the rebuke has not earn the right to speak into that Christians life. Neither does that Christ believe the rebuke has the best interest of the Christian or even really “love” the Christian he or she is rebuking.

Second the one giving the rebuke cannot just randomly pick Christians online to rebuke, especially if that Christian is under the “measure of rule” (as Paul calls it) or “Church covering” (as most call it) of the local leaders in that Christians area. Paul said stepping out of your measure of rule, sphere of authority/influence to both Christian “where another man’s foundation is already laid” is a NO-NO. Paul did not go into Peter’s churches and rebuke his spiritual children and neither did Peter go into Paul’s churches and rebuke his spiritual children. It was the same in ancient Israel. Tribe leaders of Dan could not discipline or rebuke the children of the tribe of Judah. Only the tribal fathers or tribal leaders could meet to deal with issues among members of each tribe. It’s the same today. If I want to rebuke a Christian of another church or ministry I have to (according to the Scriptures) approach their pastor to deal with it. That way the rebuke came from someone the church member already knows loves them and the member already respects and allows that leader to speak into his or her life. This is how biblical problems are solved among members of the Body who are under different spiritual leaders.

This applies in natural life. I just cannot go next door and start spanking my neighbors kids. It doesn’t work that way. Now if the neighbor says, “If you see my son doing this and that, you have the right to discipline them appropriately according to how I would deal with is.”

This is HOW true open rebuke works! It works in the context of when the relationships already established between God appointed leadership and members of local congregations.
